AI readiness assessment: know where you stand before you spend

A clear look at your data, security, access, workflows and people, so your first AI investment goes where it will pay off.

What an AI readiness assessment tells you

Most AI projects that disappoint were not bad ideas. They started before the basics were in place. An AI readiness assessment finds those gaps early, while they are cheap to fix, and tells you what to do first.

It is also a way to cut through noise. Every vendor says AI will transform your business. Our assessment gives you a plain answer to a more useful question: given your data, your systems and your people, where will AI help you today and where should you wait?

The assessment is practical and light on jargon. We interview a small number of leaders and hands on users, review how information is stored and shared, and look at the workflows where AI might help. You do not need to prepare a large data room or a long questionnaire. We work from what you already have and ask for more only when it changes the answer.

The five areas we assess

Data

Where your information lives, who owns it, how current it is and whether it is organized well enough for AI to use. Poor data is the most common reason AI results feel unreliable.

Security

How sensitive information is classified and protected, what controls exist today and what would need to change before AI tools touch that content.

Access

Who can see what. AI tools surface whatever a person is allowed to open, so overly broad permissions turn into real exposure very quickly.

Workflows

Which processes are good candidates for AI, which are not, and where time is truly lost today. We look at the work itself, not only the technology around it.

People

Skills, appetite for change, leadership sponsorship and who will own the result after we leave. The best technology fails without someone responsible for adoption.

Sometimes process automation is the right answer

Not every problem needs AI. A predictable, repeatable task is often better served by process automation, which is cheaper, easier to test and easier to explain to an auditor. When we see that, we say so.

We would rather point you to the simpler tool that works than recommend AI for AI's sake. Where AI is the right fit, we help you choose among platforms such as ChatGPT Enterprise, Claude Enterprise and Microsoft Copilot based on your needs, not on a preferred vendor.

What you receive

We start with a free 30 minute call about your business, the platforms you are considering and what you hope to achieve. If it makes sense to go further, we run the assessment and deliver a short written gap analysis.

The gap analysis is written for business leaders. It shows where you are ready, where you are not, what to fix first and which use cases are worth pursuing now. It is meant to be read in one sitting and acted on the following week. Where a gap is serious, we explain the risk in business terms, not technical ones, so the right people can decide quickly.

What happens next

Many clients move from the assessment into Microsoft 365 Copilot enablement or agent governance. Others take the gap analysis and run with it on their own. Either is a good outcome.
